Religious Education

2019 Major Focus: Religious Education - Christian Witness

At St Joseph’s School, Pleasant Point we take seriously the, “opportunity to participate in the mission of Jesus by sharing his Good News with the children and young people in our care and their families in our community and accept the responsibility and challenge of imparting particular knowledge and creating an environment and opportunities for children to engage personally with learning which will develop in a life-long relationship with Jesus/God and the Church.” (p. 3, REBD)

During 2019 we will review our effectiveness in promoting our authentic Catholic School Community and supporting active Catholic witness and practice in the school and in the parish, of which it is an integral part.

We will look at the school environment and the quality of manaakitanga (are people treated with hospitality, aroha and courtesy?) throughout the school.

Of prime importance is a view into how well enmeshed are the theological virtues of faith, hope and love tangible in the school environment and in relationships?

We will also look at teacher development, staff appraisals, effectiveness of school participation in the school-parish Eucharistic community and celebrations of the sacraments, especially the Eucharist?
