Kiwi Sport is a government funding initiative to promote sport for school-aged children. Kiwi Sport provides funding to schools for Year 1-8 students through the Ministry of Education and Sport New Zealand who funds regional sports trusts.
Year 2-4 children participate in Kiwi Sport every Wednesday afternoon from 1.15-2.00pm. Kathy Wilkins is our Kiwi Sport co-ordinator and she works with our children on site each week developing Fundamental Skills to be used in a range of sports.
Year 5-8 children participate in Kiwi Sport every Friday afternoon with the children from Pleasant Point Primary. Our children walk across to the Primary School with their class teacher and participate in a range of sports e.g. squash, rugby, soccer, tennis, netball, table tennis, basketball, golf. The children work with a variety of volunteers and coaches and have the opportunity to try out a variety of sports and develop a wide range of skills.
